Itaipu Dam, Asuncion and Encarnacion

Itaipu Dam, Asuncion, Hotel Tirol and Jesuit Missions - Encarnacion — Paraguay - YouTube

After a incredible few days in Foz do Iguacu seeing the beautiful waterfalls we took a very educational tour around Itaipu Dam, the world’s second largest hydro electric dam in the world! We learnt so many facts and it was a lot more interesting than we had imagined.

From here we headed on an overnight bus journey to Asuncion – the capital of Paraguay, where we mostly just lazed about, although we did visit a few museums and visit the zoo (which was a dodgy, poor standard zoo!).

After thoroughly lazing around we took another bus journey to Encarnacion which is a much nicer city, it has a new artificial beach, but the best bits are the jesuit mission tours and nature/wildlife trails around the Hotel Tirol.

Avoiding Snakes, Exploring Jesuit Missions and Wildlife in Encarnacion

Encarnacion is a cute riverside town which they have changed into a beach side town by adding sand! There was little to no tourism there but the beach has apparently increased the market. Alex and I arrived here in the afternoon and Al not yet had fast-food fancied a Burger King (we drove passed it).
